Brand story

FROM AN IDEA
TO A THING
YOU CAN HOLD.

HLA3D bắt đầu từ một chiếc máy in 3D trong nhà và sự tò mò của ba anh em. Thay vì chỉ chơi đồ chơi, các bạn nhỏ bắt đầu học cách tạo ra chúng.

From an idea, to a drawing, to a spool of PLA, to a real object that can be held, dropped, tested and sold. Nothing in this shop was bought and re-labelled. Every product started as a sentence at a dinner table in this house.

HLA3D là nơi ba anh em học sáng tạo, công nghệ, kinh doanh và giá trị của lao động. The printing is the fun part. The interesting part is what happens around it — working out what a thing costs, why a customer left, and how to say “I don’t know, I’ll find out”.

HLA = three brothers. 3D = Design. Dream. Do.

THREE MAKERS, THREE JOBS.

Names are kept private on purpose. What matters here is the work, not the faces.

02Timeline

SIX MONTHS, HONESTLY REPORTED.

  1. Tháng 3, 2025

    The printer arrives

An Anycubic Kobra X on the dining table. The first print is a slightly wrong calibration cube.

  2. Tháng 4, 2025

    Six failed octopuses

The first serious attempt at a print-in-place toy. Version seven finally moves.

  3. Tháng 5, 2025

    Customer #01

A Desk Buddy, 79.000đ, sold to someone who is not a relative. She asked a question we could not answer.

  4. Tháng 6, 2025

    Twenty name plates

A whole class of them. We learn what a checklist is for, and what our real capacity is.

  5. Tháng 7, 2025

    The costing spreadsheet

Dad makes us count electricity, packaging, failures and machine wear. Our margin drops. Our honesty goes up.

  6. Tháng 8, 2025

    Customer #27

Seventy-three to go. The goal has not moved: one hundred real customers before we buy a second printer.

The investor

BACKED
BY DAD.

Every startup needs its first investor. Ours happens to be Dad.

He is not the boss of HLA3D and he does not design the products. He funds the machine, keeps everyone safe, and asks the annoying questions — what does it cost, what did you promise, when will it be ready.

Dad handles electricity, hot machines, payments and grown-up problems. The makers handle everything a nine-year-old should be allowed to handle — and nothing they should not.

Dad provides
  • Machines

The printer, the tools, the bench.

  • Materials

    Filament, boxes, packaging.

  • Safety

    Anything hot, sharp or electrical.

  • Business guidance

    Pricing, promises, paperwork.

The makers provide
  • Ideas

Usually more than the printer can keep up with.

  • Curiosity

Why did it fail? Ask again.

  • Creativity

    Colours, shapes, names, characters.

  • Energy

At 6am, before school, checking the print.

03Maker safety

WHO IS ALLOWED TO DO WHAT.

The children do not operate hot equipment unsupervised. Anyone buying from HLA3D should know exactly where the line is drawn.

Dad only
  • Hotend, nozzle changes and anything above 60°C
  • Electricity, power strips and firmware
  • Payments, refunds and online accounts
  • Shipping labels and customer addresses
  • Machine maintenance and belt tensioning
  • Any tool with a blade
The makers can
  • Sketching and designing on the computer
  • Choosing colours and filament combinations
  • Photographing finished products
  • Testing, bending, dropping and reporting
  • Packing simple orders (no blades, no tape gun)
  • Working out cost, price and profit with Dad
House rules
  • The printer never runs while nobody is home.
  • Printing happens in a ventilated room, door open.
  • Nobody touches the plate until it reads under 40°C.
  • A smoke alarm sits above the printer bench.
  • If something smells wrong, we stop the job and tell Dad.
04Money lesson

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

We show the whole breakdown because working it out is the point. Nothing here is rounded up to look better.

One sale150.000đ
  • About 75 grams of filament.

  • The printer runs at roughly 120W.

  • Box, tissue, sticker and a handwritten card.

  • Set aside so we can repair or replace the printer.

  • What is actually left for the makers.

REINVESTTái đầu tư40%

New filament, better tools, the next machine.

SPENDĐược tiêu20%

Theirs. Earned, not given.

The 20% they get to spend is the only part they are allowed to touch. The other 80% has a job. That rule was set on day one and has not moved.
